Jesus
Gender: Male Age: 18 to 30
Vocal range top: G5 Vocal range bottom: A3
Charismatic and high energy, yet gentle and loving. He is the deceptively calm leader of the troupe. He is eventually betrayed by Judas and persecuted.
John The Baptist / Judas
Gender: Male Age: 18 to 35
Vocal range top: G5 Vocal range bottom: A3
He possesses the attributes of two Biblical figures: he is both Jesus' lieutenant and most ardent disciple, and also the doubter who begins to question and rebel. Like Jesus, he is also charismatic, but in an overt revolutionary way. Handsome and masculine with a subtle undertone of sexuality.

Reverend Mother Mary Regina: Mother Superior (F)
Vocal: Mezzo-Soprano
A feisty Sophie Tucker type who can't resist the spotlight. The head of the convent and respected by the sisters. While she is strict, she has a hard time keeping the craziness of the convent at bay. She keeps her guard up around the nuns but has an extroverted side.
Sister Mary Hubert: Mistress of Novices (F)
Vocal: Soprano
Hubert is in charge of novices, but fancies herself Mother Superior and is in constant competition with Mary Regina. She exudes maternal wisdom to novices, but also likes to let loose.
Sister Robert Ann (F)
Vocal: Mezzo-Soprano
One a child delinquent herself, this rough tough nun is a jokester and constantly challenging authority. She speaks with a thick Brooklyn accent and constantly displays her lack of refinement.
Sister Mary Amnesia (F)
Vocal: Soprano
As the name suggests, she has lost her memory and does not know who she is except that she is a nun. She is spacy and incoherent, often slipping into displays inappropriate for a nun.
Sister Mary Leo (F)
Vocal: Soprano
Leo is the novice nun who has entered the convent with the desire to be the first nun ballerina. Still learning the way and coming to terms with her decision to give up "civilian life", she deems herself quite the ballerina and displays her talents through much of the show.

in the Mankato Place Mall
Please bring sheet music for a song you have already learned. A pianist will be provided to accompany you.
Please do not sing an entire song. We only want to get an idea of how well you can carry a tune and follow accompaniment. Sixteen to 32 measures is all that is needed. If you are "called back", we will ask you to sing some more.
Bring comfortable shoes in case you are asked to dance. We do not expect you to be an expert dancer unless you are auditioning for dancing role.
Please be prepared to list any and all conflicts you have for rehearsals. All rehearsal conflicts must be disclosed at the time of auditions. Conflicts are NOT allowed during Tech Week or for any of the performances.
Your audition form will have the question, "Will you accept ensemble? Yes or No". Please do not mark "yes" unless you truly intend to accept an ensemble role in the production. You will have a much better chance of getting cast if you are willing to accept any role or ensemble part offered to you as opposed to only wanting particular roles. The fewer roles you indicate you will accept, the fewer options the director has for casting you.
Some actors auditioning will be asked to return for a "callback," that is, a second look. The called back actors may be asked to sing from the show and to do more extensive readings than in the "regular" audition phase .
Please remember that an actor may still be cast even if not called back, and an actor may be called back but still not cast depending on what was marked on the audition form. The director may choose to call the actors and offer roles, however, the cast list will be posted on the website by end of day on the Friday following auditions, unless there is a need for additional auditions.
